It’s that time of the year when the rumor mill surrounding the new Nexus Pixel smartphones is reaching its peak and everyone is eagerly awaiting for a potential unveiling date of the devices. As per the ever reliable Android Police, Google plans on officially announcing its new Pixel smartphones at an event that will be held on October 4th.

In addition to two new Pixel-branded smartphones, the Pixel and Pixel XL, the company will also be launching a new Chromecast that will be capable of streaming 4K content. The final name of the product is not yet clear, but it will be called either Chromecast Plus or Chromecast Ultra. Google will also be launching a Daydream VR headset at the event called the Daydream View. At the same event, Gooogle will also provide more details about its Amazon Echo competitor, Google Home.

Google had allegedly planned on launching a 4K version of the Chromecast last year but delayed its plan for some reason. It remains unclear where Google plans on holding the event and when exactly the new devices will go on sale.

Rumor points to Google launching its Pixel smartphones with Android 7.1 onboard. The smartphones will also come with Google Assistant and some other features that will remain exclusive to the Pixel lineup.
